Arrive early by car and stay overnight

Hotel pricing is always changing and “specials” are being offered for several weeks or a month at a time. You may also qualify for discounts by AAA, ARRP, Senior rate etc.   On our trip, we noted several specials on outside reader boards, some of which you will see below.  Different ones may or may not be offered in September.  All three of the listings below are near Sea Tac.  You would need to inquire about the Shuttle Express service to Bell Street Terminal, Pier 66 and the schedule for the shuttle.

You can also Google “Sea-Tac hotels” and come up with a few more.  They are mostly grouped on a 2 mile stretch of old route 99, now called International Blvd.  Taxes on hotel rooms run about $20 per night, which adds a lot to your bill.  An average room is going to be $100+   If you pay less you get MUCH less - dirty, shabby, noisy, smoke smell, and worse.  Some of you got my email about the KINGS INN in downtown Seattle - the motel from Hell.  If you want a copy, I’ll send it to you.  Definitely not the way to start your cruise!

There may be others that you can find, but for convenience to Pier 66, you simply cannot get closer than the..

The parking structure mentioned in “E” is located next door.

Notes:

1. One of our fellow travelers is working on getting a long term parking price reduction at a lot near Sea-Tac.  I’ll let you know if this works out.

Taxi Fares:   Based in part on “time” the pricing is approximate because heavy traffic can take more time (more $) to get to the destination.

Parking:    All of our discussions with parking lots confirmed they are a) patrolled, b)
well lighted at night and c) use security cameras.  At the same time, they will never take liability for anything broken or stolen.  So when considering your choice of parking places, try for well lit, and something near a video camera.  It costs the same to get just a smidge more protection.  Some lots near the airport want your car keys, but most don’t, and some hotel lots with valet parking may also keep the keys.  Reset your trip meter to 000 if you leave your keys!

Hotel:   We have used the word “hotel” because most of these establishments are very large buildings, not of the sort you would call a “motel” found along the road.
